Ingredients

  • 3-4 Large Heirloom Tomatoes, mixed varieties and colors
  • 8 Ounces Fresh Mozzarella, sliced or torn into chunks
  • 1 Large Bunch Fresh Basil Leaves, sweet basil or Opal basil
  • 3 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil, cold-pressed for better flavor
  • 2 Tablespoons Balsamic Glaze, thick and syrupy consistency
  • 1 Teaspoon Sea Salt, flaky salt works best
  • Black Pepper, to taste, freshly cracked
  • 2 Cups Arugula or Quinoa, optional base for the bowl

Method

  1. Prepare your tomatoes by washing them gently and drying them with a soft towel.
  2. Use a serrated knife to cut the heirloom tomatoes into thick, irregular wedges or slices.
  3. Prepare your mozzarella by slicing it into rounds or tearing it by hand.
  4. If using a base like arugula or quinoa, place that at the bottom of your serving dishes first.
  5. Layer the tomato slices and mozzarella pieces into the bowl, tucking fresh basil leaves between the layers.
  6. Sprinkle sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper generously over the bowl.
  7. Drizzle the extra virgin olive oil slowly across the bowl.
  8. Finish with a decorative drizzle of balsamic glaze and serve immediately.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for no more than 24 hours. Do not attempt to reheat. For best flavor, use high-quality ingredients and serve fresh.
