Ingredients

  • 1.5 Cups Warm Water (105-110°F)
  • 2.25 tsp Active Dry Yeast
  • 1 tbsp Honey or Granulated Sugar
  • 3 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 2 tsp Fine Sea Salt
  • 3.5 to 4 Cups All-Purpose or Bread Flour
  • Cornmeal (as needed)

Method

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, honey, and yeast. Stir gently and let sit for 5 to 10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add olive oil and salt to the yeast mixture. Gradually add flour one cup at a time until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 60 to 90 minutes until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough, divide into four pieces, and shape into balls. Let rest for 15 minutes.
  6. Preheat the grill to high heat (450-500°F) and clean the grates. Oil the grates with a paper towel soaked in oil.
  7. Stretch the dough into a circle and place it on the hot grates. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes until charred, then flip and add toppings. Cook for another 3 to 5 minutes until cheese melts.

Notes

Ensure grill grates are clean and well-oiled to prevent sticking. Use a thermometer to check grill temperature for best results.
