OUR STORY

Hello from my kitchen

My name is Lucas Bennett, I’m 65 years old, and if you’ve found your way to Hungerix.com, then you’ve already stepped into a piece of my world. I’ve spent most of my life discovering that the kitchen is far more than a place to cook—it’s where stories simmer, mistakes turn into lessons, and simple ingredients become something worth remembering.

Where it started

I was born and raised in a small American town where food meant connection. Back then, it wasn’t about perfect presentation—it was about who was sitting around the table. That idea never left me. Even now, every recipe I share here carries a bit of that same spirit.

Cooking with Henry

These days, I rarely cook alone. My neighbor Henry, who’s 58, wanders in just around dinnertime more often than he’d like to admit. He says he’s there to “help,” but most of the time he’s tasting, questioning, and occasionally challenging my choices. And honestly, that’s made me a better cook. We’ve had our fair share of wins—and a few meals that quietly ended up in the trash—but every dish teaches us something. Hungerix.com is where those moments live on, the good and the not-so-good.

No culinary school, just practice

I never went to culinary school. My training came from years of trial and error, from listening to others, and from trusting my instincts. I’ve burned sauces, overcooked more steaks than I’d like to admit, and learned that sometimes the best recipes come from fixing a mistake rather than following a plan.

What I believe

What I believe, and what you’ll find here on Hungerix.com, is that cooking doesn’t need to be complicated to be meaningful. It’s about flavor, yes—but also about feeling. A meal can comfort you after a long day, surprise you with something new, or remind you of a moment you didn’t realize you missed.

This space is for everyone—whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been cooking for years. If you’re willing to experiment, to laugh at your missteps, and to keep going, then you’re already part of this journey.

As for me, I’ll be right here, probably in the kitchen, with Henry nearby asking if it’s ready yet. And truth be told, that’s exactly how I like it.
